Variable capacitor, is a capacitance, can be adjusted within a certain range of capacitors, by changing the relative effective area between the pole pieces or the distance between the pieces to change, its capacitance will change accordingly. Solid dielectric variable capacitors are divided into sealed single-connected variable capacitors, sealed double-connected variable capacitors and sealed four-connected variable capacitors. Sealed single-link variable capacitors are mainly used in simple radios or electronic instruments, sealed double-link variable capacitors are used in transistor radios and related electronic instruments and electronic devices, and sealed quad-link variable capacitors are commonly used in AM/FM multi-band radios.

Types Of Variable Capacitors

 Air Dielectric Variable Capacitors

Air medium variable capacitor electrode consists of two groups of metal sheets. Two groups of electrodes in a fixed group for the fixed piece, can rotate a group for the moving piece, the moving piece and the fixed piece of air as a medium.

Solid Dielectric Variable Capacitors

Its advantages are small size, light weight; disadvantage is that the noise is big, easy to wear.
